ISG is an international construction company that has helped shape some of the world’s most iconic landmarks. A few years ago, they faced a major challenge: furnishing the homes of expats joining ISG. To make this process smoother, they turned to KeyPro.

The Challenge

Global Mobility Coordinator Paul Grommel was responsible for preparing multiple homes for incoming expats at ISG. His predecessor had managed this task independently—visiting a well-known Swedish furniture chain to purchase packages, arranging delivery, assembly, and later removal of the furniture.

The staff delivering the furniture were focused solely on assembly. As a result, the homes were never delivered as fully furnished, ready-to-live-in spaces.

On top of that, costs were difficult to predict. “You see prices listed on the website, but then additional delivery and installation charges are added. And at the end of the contract, you’re also billed for removing the furniture. That’s when we realized we needed a solution-oriented partner who could take care of everything from start to finish,” Paul explains.

The Approach

For the very first project, Paul furnished the homes himself. “Just being on-site already took a full day. That’s not even counting the time spent ordering furniture packages online and later arranging their removal. In total, I spent three—sometimes even four and a half—working days per home. I thought: this must be possible in a smarter way.”

What We Did: By putting together complete furniture packages based on the wishes of Paul and his team, KeyPro took care of delivery, installation, and assembly of all furniture. But we didn’t stop there: we also equipped the kitchens and made the beds. Once the rental period ended, KeyPro handled disassembly and collection. In short, we thought along with the bigger picture.
Obstacles Overcome: At one point, a property had been terminated and, in consultation with KeyPro, was completely cleared. Shortly after, it turned out the home was still needed, as a new expat was arriving that very evening. The KeyPro team quickly re-furnished the entire home, set everything up again, and even reconnected the internet that had been shut off. What could have turned into a highly problematic situation was resolved immediately, so much so that the expat never even noticed the house had been emptied earlier that day. He arrived in the evening to a fully furnished and ready-to-live-in home.
Involved Expert: Ruben, together with his colleagues, coordinated the project and ensured that the property was completely furnished again by the time the new resident arrived.

The Result

The collaboration between ISG and KeyPro fully optimized the process of housing expats, even when unexpected challenges arose.

Number of Homes: KeyPro furnished 42 apartments for expats.
Benefits for Residents: The expat apartments were stylishly and completely furnished. Each home came with fully equipped kitchens, connected appliances, and TV and internet access. Expats didn’t have to worry about a single thing.
Benefits for ISG: “Peace of mind, that really says it all. Service orientation, value for money, without having to think twice. If there are any issues or something breaks, it’s replaced or sorted out. KeyPro even takes care of extra services like TV and internet connections. Everything is thought of. They really think along with the client and show great flexibility,” Paul explains.

Success Factors of The Project

Service Orientation: For Paul, the most important factor was having a partner who truly thinks along with the client. Furnishing homes is not ISG’s core business, which means details can easily be overlooked. By always anticipating client needs and being ready to help at any time, KeyPro provided what Paul describes as “genuine, outstanding service.”
Investment & Invoicing: As a mobility coordinator, having clear insight into future expenses is essential. “When you have to furnish 30 homes at once, you’re quickly looking at €5,000 per set for a two-bedroom apartment. That’s already an investment of €100,000. With a service like KeyPro’s, you simply pay a monthly fee and avoid making such a large upfront expenditure. That’s one of the aspects I truly value in this collaboration,” Paul Grommel explains.
